Seattle PI Blog: “Bellevue fireworks display survives and thrives”

Today Seattle PI blogger,
Deborah Robinson, wrote an article acknowledging that the Symetra Bellevue Family 4th
fireworks show in Downtown Bellevue continues to “survive and thrive”. Robinson notes that the consistent and generous support of the celebration’s title sponsor, Symetra Financial, and other community partners such as the City of Bellevue and Kemper Development Company, have been key to creating a sustainable event year after year. Seattle event saved

A 24-hour grassroots fundraising campaign led by Seattle radio show host Dave Ross and chef/restaurateur Tom Douglas effectively raised $500,000 to save the 4th of July event in Seattle.

Congratulations on a successful effort!

Yes, the 2010 Symetra Bellevue Family 4th is on!

We read with sadness today about One Reel’s decision to cancel the 2010 Family 4th at Gas Works Park and Lake Union in Seattle.  We’re confident in the community’s ability to bring this spectacular event back in 2011.

We also know sponsor dollars are increasingly hard to come by in this economy, and the news from Seattle has sparked questions about the Bellevue event.

The Symetra Bellevue Family 4th survives and thrives thanks to enthusiastic support and participation from title sponsor Symetra, plus and a rock-solid partnership between the Bellevue Downtown Association and the City of Bellevue.

We also benefit from a sustainable event model, great access to Downtown Park where 65,000 people can celebrate in a family-friendly environment, and a unique tie-in with the Bellevue Philharmonic Orchestra.  Media partners Q13 FOX and The Seattle Times help us spread the word.

So, yes, thanks to consistent and generous support from our community partners, the show is most definitely on in Downtown Bellevue.
