Yes, the 2010 Symetra Bellevue Family 4th is on!

We read with sadness today about One Reel’s decision to cancel the 2010 Family 4th at Gas Works Park and Lake Union in Seattle.  We’re confident in the community’s ability to bring this spectacular event back in 2011.

We also know sponsor dollars are increasingly hard to come by in this economy, and the news from Seattle has sparked questions about the Bellevue event.

The Symetra Bellevue Family 4th survives and thrives thanks to enthusiastic support and participation from title sponsor Symetra, plus and a rock-solid partnership between the Bellevue Downtown Association and the City of Bellevue.

We also benefit from a sustainable event model, great access to Downtown Park where 65,000 people can celebrate in a family-friendly environment, and a unique tie-in with the Bellevue Philharmonic Orchestra.  Media partners Q13 FOX and The Seattle Times help us spread the word.

So, yes, thanks to consistent and generous support from our community partners, the show is most definitely on in Downtown Bellevue.

It’s good to hear that the 4th will still be spectacular in Bellevue.

Perhaps after they realize how important this event is, the Bellevue people will push harder to finance this event. 4th of July fireworks is really the only fun family holiday day of the summer and so many children look forward to it!

A 24-hour grassroots fundraising campaign led by Seattle radio show host Dave Ross and chef/restaurateur Tom Douglas effectively raised $500,000 to save the 4th of July event in Seattle.

    Damn Shame!

There are so many people without jobs, food, hurting; imagine what this kind of money could have done. Why does the display have to be so outragiously expensive?
